Verónica Blanchet and BLISS
bliss:
noun [ U ]
/blɪs/
That sweet spot between pure happiness and inner peace. A feeling of being in the moment and oblivious to everything else
BLISS Pilates Studio arose from my passion for movement.
I had my first encounter with this amazing training system more than 25 years ago. My professional career as a dancer had left me with knee problems and scoliosis wich forced me to work in a controlled and conscious manner to align and tone my body without impacting my joints.
I am convinced that, as Joseph Pilates said, "change happens through movement and movement heals."
Joseph Pilates developed his method, which he called Contrology or The Art of Control, in his studio at 939 8th Avenue in New York rightup until the end of his life.
Frequent visitors to his studio included athletes and dancers who wanted to recover from injury, businessmen and affluent New Yorkers who wanted to correct their posture and achieve overall well-being (body-mind-spirit) and people from a wide range of backgrounds and with different conditions.
What makes this training system so unique is that it is suitable for all stages of life, all body types, and specific needs.
My goal is to help my clients experience the benefits and well-being that I feel when practising the method, to share the knowledge passed on to me by Rocío Cárceles, who has supported me throughout my training, and to always work with the following mantra: “Being a good teacher requires empathy for oneself and for others, trusting in the process and being aware that everything worthwhile in life calls for an attitude of constant work and perseverance.”
I invite you to return to life through Contrology, as Joseph Pilates himself invited us to do in his book (Return to Life Through Contrology).
?Why Pilates
"A man is as young as his spinal column. If your column is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young." - Joseph Pilates.
The Pilates method teaches you to balance and control your body. And that ability filters into other areas of life.
Consistently practising Pilates offers numerous benefits:
-
Better Posture: it helps align the body, thus reducing the pain associated with poor posture, especially back pain and chronic pain.
-
Stronger Muscles: it mostly strengthens the core (abdominal, lumbar and pelvic regions), as well as the deep muscles.
-
Enhanced Flexibility: it promotes muscle elasticity and increases the range of motion of the joints.

-
Better breathing: it encourages proper breathing, which improves lung capacity.
-
Reduced stress and improved concentration: it relaxes the mind as one focuses on controlled movements and breathing.
-
Better balance and coordination: it helps improve the stability and control of the body.
-
Fewer injuries: by strengthening the stabiliser muscles, it reduces the risk of injury.
-
Adaptability: it is suitable for people of all ages and with all fitness levels.
-
Improved circulation: controlled movements and coordinated breathing improve blood flow and oxygenation of muscles.
